Listen, dance, sing, or be bold and bring a guitar, ukulele, drum, or some other (not-too-loud) percussion instrument and help ‘feed the groove’ of the Community Music Circle as we play infectious rhythm-driven worldbeat music from the WorldBeat Café Repertoire—classic pop/rock/reggae songs blended with strong African, Caribbean, and Latin rhythms.
And keep an eye out for those cute, furry string puppets (marionettes) that appear from time to time and shake-shake-shake in their own silly wiggly-waggly way to the irresistible grooves.
Join us on Saturday mornings during ‘the season’ (November – May) from 9:30 to 11 am (weather permitting) on the north lawn (adjacent to the parking garage) at the Delray GreenMarket — Old School Square Park on NE 2nd Avenue, a half block north of Atlantic Avenue in downtown Delray Beach.
Intended as an ‘interactive musical experience,’ audience members—particularly young children—are encouraged to pick up any of a variety of percussion instruments provided by group members and join in on the groove.
The driving rhythms (blending African, Caribbean, and Latin rhythm patterns) and the humorous, interactive, drumalong, singalong, dancealong style in which familiar tunes and original songs are performed make this unique public event a fun, lively, and engaging experience for kids and adults alike.
Bring along a folding beach/camping chair or picnic blanket and soak up some South Florida ‘winter’ (yeah, right) sun while enjoying lively, feel-good, family friendly tunes performed by local musicians. And practice your yoga poses!
Afterwards, check out the wonderful food, drinks, products, and services offered by the many local small businesses in our community at South Florida’s most popular open-air market.
